Raven Drinking Horn

The first Viking-style drinking horn of three. Hand carved and detailed.

Drinking horns are commonly associated with the Viking Era and subsequent consumption of alcoholic beverages. They are mentioned in the Beowulf poem and are usually associated with the Norse god Odin.

Well sorry to all you for my absence, I've been working on orders, trying to maintain a clean home, running aorund to birthdays and people seem to come over every single night (Read: 2 am)!!

Needless to say everything here is anything but calm and organized. Lost my car because I don't have money for gas, and lost my job like so many others.

Off to carve more horns!

Recently my art has taken a turn for the tangible, as all the recent carving shows. It's a great feeling holding a completed work, reflecting on the care put in it and relishing the knowledge that it is both beautiful and functional.

My drinking horns may not be as ornate as some, as I love the clean look they offer without distraction. Each one is unique and has an important lesson behind it, be it craftsmanship, or spiritual.

I love working with almost all mediums I can get my hands on. This sometimes includes found objects and natural materials such as wood, stone, or naturally gathered bones and feathers. My heritage occasionally incorporates itself into my work, and I am proud of where I come from.
